WHAT IS A RECALL?
1. A recall is a process for removing an elected official from office before their term officially ends.
2. An elected official may be recalled for reasons that...
a. relate to and affect the administration of the official's office
b. are off substantial nature
c. affect the rights of the public
d. affect the interests of the public
WHY RECALL THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF LAVON?
1. For approving the re-zoning of land to accommodate a datacenter.
a. The Mayor and City Council knew that the re-zoned land is surrounded by residential areas and schools.
2. For choosing a developer's interest over the interest of Lavon's residents.
a. The Mayor and City Council chose a developer's interest (building a potential datacenter) over the public's interest (homes and schools).
3. For failing to be 100% transparent with Lavon's residents about potential plans for the building of a datacenter.
a. The Mayor and City Council have failed, repeatedly, to sufficiently answer questions from the public .
b. Only by using Open Records requests were residents able to discover the potential building plans.
c. By using Open Records requests, residents discovered that the Mayor and City Council attempted to keep the potential building plans a secret.
d. As of September 2026, the Mayor and City Council continue to be secretive and misleading about the potential building plans.
e. As of September 2026, the Mayor and City Council continue to dismiss questions (from residents) about the potential building plans.
4. The Mayor, and some City Council members, aren't up for re-election in November 2026. As such, they must be recalled in order to be removed.
a. A recall (even if unsuccessful) stays in historical records, and serves as a warning to future voters (to not elect those people in the future).
